Popular health service at ‘The Practice’ to continue in Lymington
‘The Practice’, a surgery shared by seven local GP practices and based at Lymington New Forest Hospital, has announced it will still provide evening and weekend appointments.
‘The Practice’ will open for four hours every weekday evening, eight hours on Saturdays and four hours on Sundays. West Hampshire CCG can confirm The Practice will be available from 4.00pm – 8.00pm on weekdays, and also open from 10.00am to 6.00pm on Saturdays and from 10.00am to 2.00pm on Sundays.
The changes come into force on Wednesday 1 February.
West Hampshire CCG has also announced the service will transfer to Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust after the local GP Federation (New Forest Healthcare Ltd) withdrew from the contract.
Because of quick action taken by West Hampshire CCG, a new provider was found to ensure patients will still be seen at ‘The Practice’. The CCG is looking forward to working with Southern Health NHS Foundation over the coming months.
Extra GP and
practice nurse appointments will be provided for people registered with
seven local surgeries:
The Practice first opened in 2015 as a part of a pilot scheme, funded through the Prime Minister’s Challenge Fund. Seven local GP practices came together to open The Practice – an extra ‘branch’ at Lymington New Forest Hospital. With this pilot now coming to an end, West Hampshire CCG is delighted to confirm that ‘The Practice’ will now be permanently funded and will now focus on improving access to appointments outside of normal working hours.
This means The Practice will be available from 4.00pm – 8.00pm on weekdays, and also open from 10.00am to 6.00pm on Saturdays and from 10.00am to 2.00pm on Sundays.
Schofield, Chairman of NHS West Hampshire CCG, said:
“We are really
pleased evening and weekend appointments are still available – they have
proved particularly popular among local people, especially those who
work during the day.
