RICKY COOL AND THE IN CROWD PRESENT ‘A NIGHT AT THE FLAMINGO’ AT NEW MILTON’S FOREST ARTS

   01425 612393 - Box Office

   Web Site

Take a trip back in time to the early 1960’s and Soho’s most iconic music venue, in the company of Ricky Cool and the In Crowd at New Milton’s Forest Arts on Saturday 20th April. Be prepared to enjoy Red Hot Rhythm and Blues and a side order of classic early Jamaican grooves as Ricky and his band recreate the atmosphere of Wardour Street’s world-famous Flamingo ‘All Nighters’ where Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames held sway and Hipsters with their Chicksters danced the night away.

The Flamingo was the home of the burgeoning Mod scene and boasted a cosmopolitan clientele with American GIs and West Indian expatriates rubbing shoulders with pop stars, actors, socialites and celebrity gangsters. The Flaming was the place to be seen and it even played a part in the infamous Profumo Affair.

For many years Ricky Cool was the frontman of one Birmingham’s most popular combos, the legendary ‘Ricky Cool and the Icebergs’. With the Icebergs Ricky toured with Billy Connolly, shared a stage with George Harrison and played alongside Robert Plant – he’s bringing all the experience to fronting with his new band The In Crowd - bringing his 60’s-style  rhythm and blues and ska to a whole new audience.
