This 10-week course is designed to provide hands-on support for both amateur and professional musicians wishing to further develop their songwriting skills and learn more about the craft of composing.
 
Led by Adam Lemprell, the course will explore the art of creating both music and lyrics, covering key concepts and techniques and introducing a whole host of ‘tricks of the trade’.

Steve Marshall was the curator of the exhibition on the Artist’s Rifles held at Southampton Art Gallery in 2014.

He will reveal the fascinating and unlikely story of the Artist’s Rifles Regiment formed in 1860 by stars of the Victorian art world. They transformed the artists into volunteer riflemen who, during the First World War, trained officers for the British Army before serving in the front line at Passchendale.

the talk will be on Eling Tide Mill given by Ruth Kerr the community outreach officer for the Mill.  Eling Tide Mill – past, present and future. The Eling Experience is closed for a major refurbishment project covering all aspects of the site. The jewel in their crown is Eling Tide Mill – one of the last two tide mills in the UK still able to mill flour regularly. This talk looks at the history of Eling Tide Mill and sheds light on what visitors can expect from the site when it re-opens in 2018.
