Participating in music and movement sessions is brilliant for keeping the brain and body active; for maintaining and even restoring brain and muscle functions; triggering autobiographical memories, emotions and speech; relieving tension and anxiety; promoting relaxation and increased flexibility; restoring well-being and much more. I use a range of well known repertoire - folk songs, hymns, popular music, songs from the musicals - and gentle movement sequences to create classes which are both enjoyable and challenging in all the right ways!

Classes are aimed at people with early memory loss, mild cognitive impairment, dementia or anyone wanting to keep their brain active to prevent the onset of cognitive decline.

She honed her voice singing in the Duke Ellington Repertoire Orchestra and alongside boogie-woogie pianist Ben Waters. Amy sang on Ben’s ‘Live in Moscow’ album then joined him on a European tour which culminated in a session for Jools Holland’s Radio 2 show.

Ben Waters is so impressed by Amy’s talent that he performed on her debut album alongside guitar virtuoso Robbie McIntosh and supported her debut tour of the UK in 2017.

SATURDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER

THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE

Christchurch-based Arena Theatre are bringing the award-winning writer-director Martin McDonagh’s first stage play The Beauty Queen of Leenane to New Milton’s Forest Arts on Saturday 29 September. Francesca Folan (Red Dwarf, Jeeves and Wooster) is the play’s director and together they have created a chilling feast of a show with a terrible mother-daughter relationship at its core.

Arena Theatre was established in 1983 in the Bournemouth Centre for Community Arts (BCCA) in Boscombe. They have been based at the Regent Centre in Christchurch for more than 15 years, covering every genre from kids’ shows and musicals to comedy, drama and Shakespeare. Ten years ago, they began working with other, more intimate, venues to produce work of a more challenging nature. Their 2016 production ‘The Last Five Years’ and 2017 adaptation of ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead’ both came to Forest Arts.
