A Charity set up 1992 to provide a purely social meeting place
for stroke sufferers who often leave hospital with no
after-care/backup and no support to carers who frequently don't
know what they have to deal with. Referrals by hospitals,
surgeries and recommendation.
Aims and objectives are to help patients in their recovery,
enable them to share their experiences and problems with
understanding/sympathetic fellow sufferers, and to encourage
recovery as far as possible. Support and practical advice
also given to carers who often find it difficult to cope.
Open to all in the parish district. Although not always
possible, transport can be arranged if necessary.
Managed by a small committee and team of about 8 voluntary
helpers, one with first aid experience who is always on call at
the meetings.
Anyone interested should first call Pam Pulfer, the Group Coordinator, on 01425 614939 who needs to check on the patient's level of disability to ensure the volunteers can cope.
